Wake Up!! December 2007

This is the first edition of our cultural awareness newsletter. “Wake Up! 

That title was selected because, as a culture, we are suffering from a great deal of lethargy and complacency. For many of us it is, indeed, time to Wake Up!

Although I have, for years, desired to have some tool to help keep LSCC members up to speed on politically and culturally relevant events, no one has had the desire, or interest to take this project on until…Peter Stemberg.

Peter is a newer member of our congregation and is a politically experienced and savvy man with a heart for the Lord. Because of past work experience, he understands the political process, can read between the lines of various stories and knows where to dig to get stories that we need to hear. I am thankful for his experience and zeal.

 So, it is our hope that as you pick up this monthly newsletter you will be informed AND energized to act. There may be a charge to call your representatives in congress—please do! There may be a charge to challenge something in your community—please do! There may be the call to challenge something going on in your children’s school—please do!

 If we, as Christ followers do not keep informed and get active, we will run the risk of losing our freedoms which we can take for granted. Remember, our faith is not passive!!
